1) Is it difficult to disassemble a Dell notebook?

Most Dell models are really simple to take apart. You just have to be careful and patient when lifting out the plastics.

2) Do I really need a ESD kit?

It would be ideal but if you can’t get one then just use a clean deskspace and just keep yourself grounded by touching a grounded appliance such as bare metal of a cooker, PC or a radiator.
