How to replace the Modem on a Dell Latitude D630

by admin on February 9, 2010

A long list of parts to be removed before the Modem can be taken out.

  1. Remove the AC power.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Remove the media bay device.
  4. Remove the hard drive.
  5. Remove the keyboard.
  6. Remove the LCD.
  7. Remove the Palmrest assembly.

Once the Palmrest has been removed,

1) Locate the MDC.

2) Remove the single screw securing the MDC to the system board. Note that this screw is the mini screw

3) Lift the MDC from the system board.

4) Disconnect the cable from the MDC and remove it from the system.

To install a new MDC, just do it in reverse step.
