How to replace the WLAN and WWAN card on a Dell Latitude D630

In order to access the WLAN and WWAN cards, you are required to remove the hinge cover and keyboard. Both these card are located under the keyboard.

WLAN removal.

1) Once the hinge cover and keyboard has been removed you can locate the WLAN card just below the DELL logo.

2) Removed the 2 cables (or 3 in some cases) from the card carefully.

  • Note: There are 3 cables for the antennae, some cards use 2 ( black and white), others all 3 cables. Image below shows 2 are connected.

3) Pull the two release tabs away from the card. The WLAN card should spring up to 45 degrees once its released.

4) The WLAN card should spring up to a 45-degree angle.

5) Pull out the WLAN card out of the slot.

WWAN removal.

1) The WWAN card is located below the fan.

2) Disconnect the two cables from the WWAN card.

3) Pull the two release tabs away from the WWAN card.

4) Lift the WWAN card to a 45-degree angle.

5) Lift the WWAN card out of the slot.

Follow the steps in reverse order to replace the cards. Simple as that.
